Starting today, the Holland Dance Festival 2009 will take place in various theatres in The Hague. A group of people, including me, will form so called minicrews to cover some performances in short video clips.

In the past 2 days I created these bumpers to be used in those clips.

Inspired by the closing of the Landmark Education Amsterdam Center, which was like a second home to many people.(Yours truly included.)

Written and recorded in a single evening – last evening, to be precise – and as such probably subject to change in the coming weeks.

Oh, and please ignore the small slip-up near the end.

I don’t do political songs. So when a subject like the financial crisis comes along, this is my take on it.

It was recorded at my mom’s birthday party. The garden was only lit by candles, some christmas decoration and a small fire, so obviously the footage is very dark.

As you can see the camera was positioned quite some distance from me and I didn’t bring the right audio equipment, so the recorded sound is quite flat and you kinda need to listen through the noise of people talking.

But still, a nice memory to keep.

This is a video of my vocal group Men Unlimited performing Mama Said, an a capella song we borrowed from Huey Lewis and the News, who in turn borrowed it from The Shirelles.

Last weekend we had our first show in many months, on the yearly Enschede food tasting festival Proefeet.

The lighting conditions were very difficult, which resulted in Marc’s face turning almost completely white. If it’s bothering you, I suggest closing your eyes and just listen.

A short Dutch documentary on being an Industrial Designer. Six Industrial Design students share their vision on this profession.

Due to some technical difficulties (I won’t bore you with the details), I had to split the film up in two parts.

As I wrote before, the deadline of my documentary about being an industrial designer was July 11th. That wasn’t completely true: the deadline for the report was  friday, July 10th, and the documentary itself was due one week later: friday, July 17th.

And well… it’s done!!! I am quite pleased with the end result, especially considering that it was fully made in 6 weeks. So why is it not here?

Well, my editing software decided it should start spitting out corrupted video files and my compression software is messing up the audio track. I managed to make an inferior render which was fine to turn in to my tutor, but since the online video will stay there for the world to see for years… maybe decades… maybe indefinitely… I want it to be as good as it can possibly be. And at the moment, it is not.

I am looking into the problem and posted it online to get some help from others. Meanwhile I will be on vacation untill the 30th of July. I already want to give a big shout-out to all people who helped me with the film and in their honor I will make sure I will upload the documentary here as soon as possible.

Inbetween managing a body that is not well and a study project with a strict deadline, every now and then I find the motivation to spend a few hours on this project. And even though it’s only about 15% finished, I’d like to share a short teaser with you which illustrates where I’m going with this.
